About WLD 703
In 2011 I bought this 2007 Holden VE Series 1 Omega Commodore in the colour Evoke from Barry Bourke Motors in Berwick. It was in the used car lot and was purchased with 20,000kms on the clock. I was told the previous owner was an elderly lady who used it for shopping. She traded it in for something slightly bigger, a Holden Captiva.
I did a lot of highway driving in the car whilst at University with many trips from Berwick to Ballarat as well as trips to my now wife and her family in the Gippsland region.
For a lot of COVID, the car sat idle since I worked from home. I think in that COVID period, I only did about 5,000 km as we used my wife’s BMX X3 for all other trips.
In March 2022, I trade the car in with 224,000 kms for the purchase of my Ford FX4 PX3 Ranger.
Over my entire ownership of the car, I did many upgrades which is why I started this little blog.
The car appears to have been sold by Tony’s Car Sales in August 2022.
Upgrades I did:
- Upgraded the wheels to VE Thunder’s to match the grey colour
- Lowered Suspension to SSSL all round with Monroe Shocks
- Upgraded the Stereo to SS Series 1 with a better screen and controls
- SSV Exhaust
- Altezza Tail Lights
- Changed over the Standard Grill to a Series 2 Holden Grill (and then sprayed black)
- Audio System Upgrade
Mechanical Work completed on the car:
- SSV Exhaust
- Timing Changes were replaced at 130,000kms
- The Oil Pump was replaced at 200,000kms
- Due to the location of the oil pump, timing changes were also checked, not replaced but were redone as a part of the process.
- The thermostat was replaced at 200,000kms, the same time as the Oil Pump
