Wiring Speakers to Holden VZ, VE or VF

When using the stock Holden VZ, VE or VF head unit, there are no RCA outputs like aftermarket systems when you want to connect an additional amp. The best way is to take a feed using a Line Out Converter (LOC) which takes the audio from existing speaker wires and then gives you an RCA output.

In my cars, I’ve used a LOC off the rear speakers which was great because then you can easily control the Front vs Rear balance. I had my Rear slightly higher than the front.

This is the easiest thing to do rather than tinkering with other wiring or trying to look for a wiring diagram. You could impact other speakers and your overall audio system.

Yes it is. It can be done.

That’s correct and you need is a Line Out Converter or sometimes referred to a LOC.

Personally, for my Audio System in my Sedan, I have a $15 JayCar LOC which is mounted within 30cm of the Amp in the boot of my car. The link to this LOC is this – http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA0482. This LOC has worked 100% with 0 for the past 3 years.

Some people prefer to spend a little more on an LOC, it all depends on what you are wanting, but all you need is your audio signal into an RCA connection. You can get other LOCs off eBay or other car audio retailers in store or online.

I have run extension wires from the rear door speakers into the boot of the car which is then wired into the LOC. If you have a ute, you can use the front speakers.

Yes, you can. What coloured wires they are, I am not sure.

Holden VEs are known well for their alternator wine. For my system I have used one of these to reduce it – http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA3084 – this has been put in after my LOC.

If you also have alternator wine while playing via AUX, you might notice it only happens when you have your iPhone, iPod, iPad, Android or smartphone charging via the 12v accessories, well I have stopped that wine by putting on these filters in line at the AUX end – http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA3086.
